This week I've been mainly focusing on the main props from this corner of my scene. This is so I can work around to make the secondary props compliment the main assets as I go.
Recently I have started using second hand items on Ebay for reference. I've found the are one of the best sources to use as it's genuine wear and tear and sellers often take photos from various angles.
This certainly helped when looking at references for the typewriter. As I want the collectors cabin to be modern yet full of dates antiques that are well and truly used.
I baked the typewriter in marmoset as I feel it results in a more realistic AO and gives more control when offsetting certain parts of the bake such as screws.
Textured in Substance Painter.
I am constantly tweaking the lighting to ensure it looks more realistic by using ArchVis techniques.
I also want the player to be drawn to this area, therefore it's one of the most lit areas to attract the eye.
I also managed to get round to adding sunlight to the SkySphere. It still needs a bit of tweaking but I'm very happy with the results.
Here's a few shots of the typewriter in-game so far. taking in mind that the lighting is only baked on preview for now.

The model is based on the UNDERWOOD Portable Typewriter from 1933.
I wanted to make the typewriter feel old but well used with dust build-up in the crevices and well-worn or even replaced keys.
This game ready model comes to 7.2k tris.

I also made paintings, collages and collected photos I took in Iceland to use around the house to get a sense for how the decor will fit in.
