FMP - Icelandic House (Week 8-10)

This past week I have had interviews, been ill and sorting bits within uni which means I'm a bit behind schedule. I also got the job! Which means I won't be able to finish FMP in time but I still want to continue working on it in my own time.

Because of this I am now focusing on smaller areas of my scene so I can get part of it to as close to completion as possible.
I took the chair block-out into ZBrush and modelled in some creases and buttons.
I then baked the model in marmoset.

I wanted light to filter through the curtain so I still had that light from the original that reflects off the floor and helps contrast against the desk and chair. I used a similar technique to this video to create the curtain material.
I placed geometry behind to create a bedroom scene to indicate there is a room behind the curtain.
I kept tweaking the curtain as I worked on the desk space.
I added a few story telling elements to help ground the area.
Here I noticed the lighting and flooring was very off along with the globe being to much of a vibrant distraction from the desk.

I worked into the flooring as this stood about to me the most and was quite jarring on how smooth it was.
I also made some glasses to add a one off asset besides the typewriter for some variety.
I used weighted normals on this model as I want to unwrap it to a tileable texture sheet.
At this stage most assets are place holders at a white-box stage but the curtains are placeholder at a high tri count.
The assets that are fully finished at this point are:
  • Office Chair
  • Rugs
  • Wooden floor
Note: I have also searched and moved house during these 3 weeks.
